Former Winston & Strawn (now Winston Taylor) Chair Thomas Fitzgerald Joins Oxford Strategic Legal Advisors as Chairman of the Board

Fitzgerald joins former Wells Fargo and Citi executives to bring distinctive strategic advisory, financial intelligence, and law firm leadership experience
NEW YORK — October 1, 2026— Oxford Strategic Legal Advisors (“Oxford” or “OSLA”) today announced that Thomas P. Fitzgerald, former Chair of Winston & Strawn LLP, has joined the firm as Chairman of the Board.
Fitzgerald served for 18 years as Chair of Winston & Strawn, where he helped transform the firm’s geographic reach, practice mix, client service, and approach to growth. During his tenure, Winston opened 10 offices and added and integrated more than 250 lateral partners through strategic hiring and combinations. Fitzgerald also helped expand and balance the firm’s corporate and litigation capabilities, introduced a sector-focused go-to-market strategy, and oversaw initiatives to modernize the firm’s operations, compensation, technology, partner hiring and integration, and legal service delivery.
Oxford launched in 2024, led by CEO Jeff Grossman, a 30-year legal industry veteran who co-founded Wells Fargo’s Legal Specialty Group, and President and Co-Chair Naz Vahid, who spent more than three decades at Citi and built its law firm business into the leading industry platform. Fitzgerald’s appointment adds nearly two decades of experience leading a major international law firm, creating a rare combination of distinctive strategic advisory, financial intelligence, and law firm leadership experience.
“We have worked with Tom for many years and know firsthand the judgment and perspective he brings,” said Grossman. “Together, we can look at the challenges facing law firms from all directions, and turn that insight into practical strategies for our clients.”
As Chairman of the Board, Fitzgerald will work closely with Oxford’s leadership on law firm strategy and key client engagements, bringing his perspective to growth strategy and opportunities and helping translate industry data and insights into actionable recommendations for law firm leaders. “Jeff and Naz have spent their careers working with law firm leaders and understand these businesses at a level few advisors can match,” said Fitzgerald. “Having worked closely with both of them during my time as Chair, I know the value they bring. I look forward to drawing on my experience leading a firm through growth and change to add another dimension to the Oxford platform.”
Vahid added, “Tom understands what it means to lead through change. He has made the kinds of decisions Oxford helps its clients navigate—from growth and lateral expansion to strategy, operations, and integration. That experience, combined with Oxford’s financial, analytical, and strategic capabilities, will be invaluable to our clients.”
