Gerardo Valencia

Senior Managing Associate & Analyst Lead

Gerardo Valencia works with law firm leaders on M&A research, growth strategy, market analysis, and other initiatives requiring a detailed understanding of firms, competitors, and potential combination partners. He has led research efforts evaluating more than 200 law firms and prospects, helping clients assess strategic fit, identify opportunities, and determine where deeper diligence is warranted.

His work brings together financial performance, practice strengths, geographic presence, leadership, talent, client and market positioning, and other firm-level intelligence to provide a clearer picture of potential opportunities. Gerardo is particularly skilled at taking large amounts of fragmented information and building structured analysis that allows leadership teams to compare firms, test assumptions, and make more informed decisions around growth and M&A.

Gerardo also brings a strong technical background to Oxford’s advisory work. His experience spans business analysis, project management, cybersecurity strategy, and data analysis, allowing him to approach research and strategic questions from both a business and technical perspective. He regularly uses Tableau and Excel to analyze data and identify trends and is proficient in Python, SQL, HTML, and other programming languages.

That technical fluency has allowed Gerardo to automate repetitive research, improve analytical workflows, and build tools that make complex projects more efficient and repeatable. He also has experience with JIRA and Confluence and with managing projects through software development life cycle frameworks, giving him a practical understanding of how technology and process design can support broader organizational objectives.

At Oxford Strategic Legal Advisors, Gerardo applies that combination of research, technology, and business analysis to law firms evaluating combinations, expansion opportunities, competitive positioning, and other strategic priorities. His ability to move between detailed analysis and the broader business question helps turn complex information into findings clients can act on.

Gerardo is fluent in English, Spanish, and French. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Informatics and a master’s degree in Cybersecurity Strategy & Information Management from The George Washington University.
