Jeff Grossman

CEO & Co-Chair

Jeff Grossman has spent decades working directly with Am Law 100, Am Law 200, and leading boutique firms, giving him a deep understanding of law firm economics, growth strategy, financial performance, and the operational challenges facing firm leadership. Chairs, managing partners, and C-suite executives turn to Jeff for advice on mergers and acquisitions, profitability, firm structure, expansion, and other significant business decisions.

Jeff created the Wells Fargo Comparative Analytic Tool (CAT) and played an instrumental role in the development of the Citi Law Firm Survey, two widely recognized benchmarking resources in the legal industry. Through that work, he helped law firm leaders better understand their financial performance, competitive position, and the factors driving profitability and growth. That experience continues to shape his work with firms evaluating strategic opportunities and major changes to their businesses.

Prior to co-founding Oxford Strategic Legal Advisors, Jeff spent more than 30 years in corporate and commercial banking, including senior leadership roles at Wells Fargo Private Bank. He co-founded the bank’s Legal Specialty Group, which worked extensively with Am Law 100 and 200 firms on financing, benchmarking, and strategic planning. As Head of Advisory for the group, Jeff advised law firm leadership on financial strategy, operational change, and numerous significant law firm mergers.

Jeff also founded Wells Fargo’s Specialty Finance Group, where he developed financing solutions for ultra-high-net-worth clients involving seed capital, real estate, art, ESOP monetization, and other complex assets. Earlier in his career, he held roles at several major financial institutions spanning corporate finance, structured finance, investment banking, and business development.

Throughout his career, Jeff has built and led businesses around emerging market opportunities and brings that same perspective to his work with Oxford clients. He advises firms considering combinations, geographic and practice expansion, new business initiatives, changes to operating models, and other decisions with significant financial and strategic implications.
Jeff’s experience contributes to more than 30 law firm combinations. His long history working alongside firm leadership gives clients a perspective grounded not only in the legal market, but also in the financial and operational realities of running a law firm.
