Roman Labutin

Roman Labutin advises law firm leaders on financial strategy, profitability, transformation, capital allocation, operating models, and other significant business decisions. With more than two decades of senior financial leadership experience, he brings a CFO’s perspective to the financial and operational questions that shape how organizations grow, invest, and perform.

Roman held several senior leadership roles at Citi, including CFO of Citi Private Bank, CFO of Citibank Korea, and CFO of Citi’s enterprise-wide transformation organization. In those positions, he worked closely with senior executives and boards on profitability, strategic planning, investment priorities, resource allocation, organizational structure, and long-term financial performance.

Throughout his career, Roman has led large-scale transformation and restructuring initiatives, developed multi-year financial and investment frameworks, redesigned operating structures, and helped leadership teams evaluate where to invest, where to reduce complexity, and how to align resources with broader strategic priorities. His experience also includes capital planning, business integration, transaction evaluation, and other matters requiring coordination across finance, strategy, and operations.

Roman’s background spans global banking, wealth management, private markets, private equity, and venture capital, giving him perspective on both institutional and investor decision-making. At Oxford Strategic Legal Advisors, he applies that experience to law firms evaluating combinations, growth investments, organizational changes, capital structures, and other decisions with significant financial implications.
His work with Oxford focuses on helping firm leaders better understand the economics behind their strategic choices, improve financial discipline, and build operating models that support sustainable growth and stronger long-term performance.

Roman holds an MBA in Financial Management from Fordham University and a master’s degree in Physics and Applied Mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He also completed the Chief Financial Officer Program at Columbia Business School.
